Karangahake Gorge Walkway is a must do walk! We spent a couple of hours here and completed the Windows walk which was awesome exploring the mining tunnels and admiring the stunning views from the holes in the side of the tunnels, I recommend you have a torch for this one

Mount Maunganui is a great location with a really nice feel about it. We mainly wanted to do the walk to the top of the mount but did enjoy a swim in the ocean with the sea temperature sitting at a warm 20 degrees!
We decided to walk from Spa Park to Huka Falls and back so that we could use the thermal pools when we arrived back. The walk was about 1.5 hours return and is an easy trek alongside the river.
The highlight of Rotorua is the Redwoods Treewalk as pictured above. The photos really don’t do it justice. Over 700 metres long with 28 suspension bridges which are bloody narrow but very cool.
Our walk to Cooks Cove took just on 30 mins with a few stops on the way to admire and take photos of the view. Cooks Cove is where Captain James Cook stopped in 1769 as part of his navigation of New Zealand.

It is a short walk on the sand and then onto rocks for the remainder of the walk. We for some reason decided to do it barefoot which was stupid because the rocks were hot as it was a stunning day and this resulted in us burning the bottom of our feet by time we made our return journey.

We checked out all the old Art Deco buildings throughout the city centre. We then headed out to Marine Parade and walked along the beach.

Stayed the night at Mount Holdsworth which is a Doc Campsite and is a great spot to park up with plenty of space. There a many walks ranging from a couple of hours to all day.
