We drove to Kaikoura on Friday night and stayed at the Kaikoura Trotting Club which is an NZMCA park for its members. Plenty of other motorhomes and campervans in for the night. Quick walk to the beach for a photo of the Kaikoura coastline.
Fish and chips was the only way to go when arriving late into Kaikoura. We grabbed these from Coopers Catch. The chips were average but the fish was tasty with the supplied lemon wedge.
We then drove to Picton to catch the ferry across into Wellington for the start of our tour around the North Island. Luckily there was the Picton Maritime Festival on for us to fill in some time while waiting for the ferry.
