Paunui Summit Track is a challenging up hill climb to the summit. It was bloody hot when we did it so this added to the challenge. I would still put the walk somewhere between easy and medium though but definitely gets the heart rate up. Once at the top you a rewarded with an amazing view of Paunaui and the man-made boating canals. It truly is one of the better summit walks we have done view wise. We decided to head back down through the Cove Bay track which brings you out to a Cove where you walk along the beach back to the main carpark, check the tide first. We then took a couple of dips in the water at the beautiful beach they have at Paunui.
