I had never visited Waimate before but I decided that since my Dad was born here I should have a look! We arrived after lunch and because its Easter the place is all closed up. We drove up to the Whitehorse memorial instead of walking it which was a shame because it looks to be a fun walk. The view of the horse is actually better from the town, up close its pretty old and needs a water blast and repaint. It's still cool though and worth the visit. We then discovered a Disc Golf course by chance and having our Disc's with us we had a round on the tight little 9 hole course. It's a great beginners course with a few technical holes but we managed to get around okay and even came back the next morning to see if we could do better. We stayed the night at an NZMCA park and the headed to the markets the next morning and a look through the many second hand, collectibles stores in the town. Grabbed some supplies and then off to Benmore and aviemore dam.
